I am trying to transfer an existing word document to a word template that I created. I have followed the steps from your website, from this link: How do I transfer (copy) the entire, formatted Style Pane from one - Microsoft Community

When I click ok though nothing happens. Nothing changes and there is no error message so I have no idea how to fix it or what went wrong.

You can either attach the template to the document (with "Automatically update document styles" enabled) or create a new document based on the template and paste the content of the existing document (without the final paragraph mark) into it.

Well, that would make sense, of course.

Correct me if I am wrong, but my recollection in recent versions is if you paste into a new document based on the template that has no content in a style, when you tell Word to use destination styles, it only does that if the destination style is already in use in the destination document.
