Hello
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
Here’s how you can securely wipe your old computer and ensure your OneDrive data remains safe:
Steps to Wipe Your Old Computer
- Backup Important Data:
- Ensure all your important files are backed up to OneDrive or another external storage.
- Sign Out of OneDrive:
- Open OneDrive settings on your old computer.
- Go to the Account tab and click Unlink this PC. This will stop syncing files but won’t delete them from OneDrive.

- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
- Under Reset this PC, click Get started.
- Choose Remove everything to delete all personal files, apps, and settings.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
