Hello

am currently using Visio Web Microsoft 365 with a license. I am trying to add a custom stencil to draw my project, but Visio is not accepting it because the file size is 30MB. The file is a .vss file. How can I add it to Visio online?

    Hi Ashoury,

Good day! I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Yes, you can install the Visio application on a Windows virtual machine running on Mac. Here are the steps, of course after you have already installed your virtual machine:

    1. Go to www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.
    2. Sign in with the work or school account associated with this version of Visio plan 2.
    3. In the Microsoft 365 home page, select Install and more dropdown and select Install Microsoft 365 apps. (If you set a different start page, go to admin.microsoft.com/account#installs.)
    4. From My Account, select Apps & devices.
    5. Find Visio from the list and choose your language and the 64-bit or 32-bitversion, then select Install Visio.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Ralph Chawatama,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Unfortunately, I only use a MacBook and do not have access to a desktop or laptop with a Windows OS. Is there a workable solution to this issue? I'm unsure whether I can install Office on a virtual machine (VM) running on my Mac.

    Sincerely,

    Ali Ashoury

    Dear Ali Ashoury,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I’m sorry you’re having a problem with adding Juniper Stencil to Visio on web based on your description we can work together to resolve it.

For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

Unfortunately, Visio on web is limited to importing files with a maximum size of 5MB, and the stencil file type should be .vssx. Since you have the option to import Visio stencils, you likely have Visio Plan 2. You could consider using the Visio Desktop app, as your license allows for its download and activation. With the Visio Desktop app, you will be able to import your Visio file. Alternatively, you could split the file into sizes less than 5MB and ensure the file type is .vssx.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if there has been any misunderstanding or if you have any further questions.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

Ralph Chawatama | Microsoft Community Moderator
