Hi,

I have been having this problem when I build my lists. So here is the issue.

I created a list but when I try to create a calculated column, the List settings is not available when I click on the gear on the upper right corner of Lists, the only option I have is "Recycle Bin", but the List Setting is missing and on the left upper corner, I am getting "Microsoft Lists (Preview)."

Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Zenobia,

Thanks for your reply. Indeed, I am using my personal account. I can add columns, but the one option I need (calculating columns) is not available. I can do that in my work's Sharepoint, but I can't use it for personal use. Very disappointed.

    Best regards

    Dear Rapheek,

    Thank you for your reply.

We see that you indicated that you were trying to add "Calculated Columns" using your personal account, but it was not working, and that you were able to do so on SharePoint at work.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and we have retested and reconfirmed that we need to explain the information about SharePoint and Personal Accounts to you:

Due to the differences in the setup of SharePoint work accounts and personal accounts, the functionality of work accounts may be limited by position permissions and specific settings and therefore different from the functionality of personal accounts.

Some features of SharePoint may not be available in a personal account, including the Calculated Columns option. This is because Calculated Columns are typically used in corporate environments and they rely on advanced features of the SharePoint server version that may not be included in the SharePoint Online version for personal accounts.

Work accounts have more features and permissions because they are managed by the organization, whereas personal accounts are more restricted.

In the meantime, to help you make use of the functionality and options later, it is recommended that you submit your suggestions and ideas on the dedicated feedback platform Welcome to the SharePoint group. (microsoft.com) (English only) or Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Q&A (English only) where a dedicated developer will look at your feedback and comment on it.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Dear Rapheek,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are unable to display setup information when using Microsoft list.

In order to further assist you in confirming the information, we need to check with you:

What type of List account are you using to log in to your List account? Is it your personal account or work or education account information?

Have you tried to subscribe to the appropriate list?

Based on your description, we have made inquiries and tests and need to explain to you the information you have indicated that the Microsoft list display (Preview) and settings are not available:

When you are using personal account and not participating in any program, the Microsoft list you logged in Microsoft list display is indeed the information of Microsoft list (Preview), and in the process of using, you have fewer functions compared to the version of joining business or enterprise and program, there may be some limitations in the use.

And we see that you said by clicking on the settings, there is no display information, only the only option "Recycle Bin", this is the normal display information, in the use of the function there will be some limitations. We also tried to open the settings information, but the same information was only displayed for the "Recycle Bin" option, and it was not possible to change the information directly from the webpage or the settings.

We tried logging in with our work account and were able to display the information under "Settings" and set the list.

If you want to add columns to your List, we also recommend using the "Add Columns" option in the List, where you can further select or add information as you see fit.

Meanwhile, thank you very much for your support and observation of List usage.

Due to the limitations of the Microsoft community, we are unable to change the information about the settings directly, and we also suggest that you can put forward your suggestions and ideas on the specialized feedback platform Welcome to the SharePoint group. (microsoft.com) (English only) or Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Q&A (English only), where a dedicated developer will look at your feedback and comment on it.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards,
