I have forgoten how to do it and there is only one 'thread ' of course locked and pretty useless as it says there is no ruler and you have to use (a combination of keys to draw a straight line...
But that is not true that ruler in Draw has been there for some time now.
There is a video but it does not show how to rotate it.

You can use the mouse wheel to rotate the ruler from the Draw tab in Word.

This is one of the suggestions made by Yuhao.L earlier in the thread (although the linked article applies to OneNote).

I suspect the ruler on the Draw tab is mostly for drawing straight lines and control the angles on intersecting lines.

You can post suggestions for Microsoft from within Word, using Help > Feedback.

    Hello, Michel Munier

I am glad I was able to help. The steps I mentioned can actually be found directly on the Microsoft website. They are exactly the same as what I described.

That is a One Note article, not a Word article, even though it may well describe Word.

    Hello, Michel Munier

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

To position the ruler at the angle you want:

    • Use one finger (or click on the ruler and drag your mouse) to move the ruler up/down or left/right.

    • Use two fingers (or right-click on the ruler and scroll the mouse wheel) to rotate the ruler to the angle you want.

    • Use three fingers to rotate the ruler by five-degree increments.

When you're done, select Ruler again to hide the ruler.
