Error - missing fonts

This morning, I woke to my documents all having a different font than how I left them over the weekend. When I went to correct the problem, all of the Microsoft Word online fonts had a yellow error triangle next to them that said "missing fonts". Each new font I tried to use (all Office fonts, none added by me) gave me the same response. Also, I can no longer click the expanding arrow next to the fonts that allows me to choose bold, light etc. I have googled all morning, but have not found anything to try. Most posts are in regards to new fonts the users have added, not the Office Fonts that come with the online version of the program. I am a Mac user and have already retried restarting my computer as well. The attached photo shows what I am seeing. I appreciate any help or guidance in advance! Thank you :)

    Hi I today am experiencing the same issue with the online version of Word all my documents are loading strangely due to issues with the fonts and the yellow triangle next to the font names. Did this just resolve itself for you or did you have to do anything in order to restore?

    Thanks

    Cheryl

    @Karissa_902

    @Vincent Garcia1

    A bit of investigation indicates that this is a current bug in the Word & PowerPoint browser apps. Excel doesn't appear to be affected gut I haven't checked anything else. I doubt anything can be done at the user level to correct the situation other than to use the Feedback tool on the Help tab to sent your comments to the development team.

    There is no image in your message... The Insert Image tool has bee broken for several weeks. Instead, use one of the Mac keyboard shortcuts:

    Shift+Control+Command+3 to capture the entire screen to the Clipboard, or

    Shift+Control+Command+4 to capture a selected area to the Clipboard

    Then just Paste into the message. Use the lower right corner of the pasted image to scale it down if necessary.

    Additionally, please specify the Version Numbers of both macOS & Mac Office as well as whether you left the documents open "over the weekend" & whether you're referring to installed fonts or cloud fonts. Include any other details you can offer about the source/origin of the documents, where they are stored, etc.

    Dear Karissa_902,

    Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community. We are delighted to offer our assistance.

    I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with missing fonts in Microsoft Word for Mac. This issue can occur when the font files are missing or corrupted on your computer. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check if the missing fonts are installed on your computer. You can do this by opening the Font Book app on your Mac and checking if the fonts are listed there. If they are not, you may need to reinstall them.
    2. Clear the font cache on your Mac. To do this, open the Terminal app and type in the following command: "sudo atsutil databases -remove". Press enter and then enter your admin password when prompted. This will clear the font cache on your Mac.
    3. Repair Microsoft Office. Open the Applications folder, find Microsoft Word, and right-click on it. Select "Get Info" and then click on "Open in 32-bit mode". This will open Word in a different mode and may help resolve the issue.

    If none of these steps work, we are afraid that in order to address this issue, it may be necessary to investigate the environment on your end. As forum support, we do not have sufficient permissions and resources to perform an investigation directly.

    We have noted that you have posted this question in the For Business category and assume that you have a Microsoft 365 for Business subscription.
