Every time I try to "Save As", this window asking me to sign in to Microsoft pops up . Once I close it, then I can go to my desktop to save whatever I'm saving. It happens every time and it makes the whole process take FOREVER!

How do i stop that from happening?

It used to be that when I hit "Save As", the folder I was just in would pop up, but no more and I am SO frustated.

In Word, have you tried File > Save As > Browse (or the keyboard shortcut F12 which on some keyboards must be replaced with Fn+F12)?

By default, if you Save As from an existing document, Word will suggest the same location as the original document.

You can set Word to save locally by default, if you prefer to store documents on the computer's drive. At File > Options > Save, select "Save to Computer by default" and specify a "Default local file location."

In Word for Windows, try pressing F12 (or Fn+F12 on some keyboards) to display the classic Save As dialog box directly.

Going through your directions 1 by 1:

    1. Yes I have an office account but it's through my brother and I have no ideas how to sign into it.
    2. A dialog box with Shows Apps popped up. I hit show apps and saw Firefox, Internet Explorer, Notepad, Paint, Imaging devices control panel, Soda PDF 14
    3. Box popped up that said: Account Error - There are problems with your account. To fix them, please sign in. I signed into my microsoft account and the Account Error message was still there. But the list that came up showed Microsoft 365 and Office Updates - options; Microsoft 365 Insider; About Word; and What's new. I don't know what to do with those.
    4. There was a Microsoft 365-en-us and Advanced options. What do I do?
    5. Needed to know the version. Where do I find that?
    6. There was no updates listed.

    I'm lost!!!

    Hello SiennaStar420,

I'm Shalom and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Check your Office Subscription Status: Make sure your Office subscription is active and that you are signed in with the correct account.
    2. Clear Office Credentials:
    • Close all Office applications.
    • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
    • Type control keymgr.dll and press Enter. This will open the Windows Credentials Manager.
    • Under the "Generic Credentials" section, look for any credentials related to Office or Microsoft.
    • Select each one and click "Remove".
    • Restart your computer and try saving a document again in Word to see if the issue persists.
    1. Check Office Settings: Ensure that your Office settings are configured correctly. You can check your Office settings by opening any Office application (e.g., Word), clicking on "File" > "Account", and reviewing the settings there.
    2. Repair Office Installation:
    • Close all Office applications.
    • Press Windows key + X and select "Apps and Features" from the menu.
    • Scroll down and find Microsoft Office in the list of installed applications.
    • Click on it and select "Modify" or "Change".
    • Choose the "Repair" option and follow the prompts to repair your Office installation.
    • Once the repair process is complete, restart your computer and try saving a document again in Word.
    1. Update Office: Make sure you have the latest updates installed for your Office suite.
    2. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date by checking for and installing any available updates.

    Best Regards, Shalom
