iPad Microsoft Word - Not able to move images on microsoft word

I opened my iPad this morning which I use for microsoft word, one note, excel etc every single day. I open a word document, insert a screenshotted image and it won’t move. It does not matter if I change the wrap text or not. It WON’T move! No reason, no trigger. I can grab it but it won’t physically move.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't unlock anything to fix it and wrap text does not fix it. I need this for everyday use for work.

Incredibly frustrating as I can’t do anything I want when inserting an image.

Looks like people have had this issue in the past so why hasn’t this been fixed? Please help.

I also figured out that you can sort of move pictures when you use an Apple Pencil, but not if you use your fingers or a mouse. Apple Pencil doesn’t work perfectly though, sometimes the pictures are suddenly stuck again, or it keeps drawing. Then you need to close and open the document. Not ideal.

Hi! I have the exact same problem.. I have tried absolutely everything, but my pictures won’t move. I use the Ipad pro 2021, 11 inch. I have never had any problems like this until recently. Been using this iPad for almost two years now.

I really hope this problem can be fixed soon, as I’m on a deadline… :(

    Dear respected Victoria,

Since the issue persists after the general troubleshooting steps like reinstallation and happens on all files, it needs to further troubleshooting based on your device environment in case the root cause is from the conflict of Word application.

In this situation, please open a support ticket from Contact Us - Microsoft Support and so the online support engineers can collect the logs from your Word application for background analysis. They have more resource and necessary investigation tools to help you find the root cause from back end and fix the issue. This would be the most efficient way in handling this case for you.

Please accept my Apologies for redirecting you to the escalated support channel above as the moderators in this community have limited resources to access users' end, and to make sure you can get the fast and appropriate assistance we requested for it.

I appreciate your time and effort on checking these above and thank you for your time and cooperation. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Dear respected,

Good day! Thanks for posting in our community.

We went through your post carefully and deployed some tests with inserted images in Word for iPad application 2.85. As we failed to reproduce it on our machines since the images can be moved, to offer you the correct guide to resolve this, could you please share us some more details as troubleshooting steps below?

    1. May I know if the same behavior will happen when you create a brand-new document and insert an image?
    2. From my tests, once the Wrap Text is selected to In Line with Text, it will be unavailable to move the image. May I know if the behavior persists when you select other options like Through or In Front of Text?
    3. If it happens on any documents, please go iOS Settings (the gear button)>scroll to find Word on the left bar>click Reset Word. Then relaunch Word to check the result.

We appreciate your kind patience and understanding that sometime the initial reply may not resolve the concern immediately or there may have some misunderstanding about your scenario, but we would like to hear the updates from your side and let's figure out the further suggestions.

We'll be here for you to wait for your updates. I appreciate your time and effort on checking these above and thank you for your time and cooperation. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator
