I have lost the date grouping by Year and Month in my pivot tables

Hi

I downloaded an update today. That may or may not be relevant, but from today I no longer have dates grouped by Year and Month in the columns of my pivot tables.

How can I get them back?

Articles on the web talk of using the Group Selection box on the Pivot Table Analyse ribbon, but when I click that I don't see the dialogue box to select Year &/or Month, so I just get one giant groups for everything.

I use MacOS.

    Hi Stephen

As I already mentioned, this is a known issue. For some users, reverting to a previous build of Excel temporarily cured the problem. Obviously it doesn't work for everyone.

Please report the problem to Microsoft using the Menu Bar and choosing Help > Feedback > I Don't Like Something so they know you want this problem fixed.

    Hi

I've noticed several reports of this problem. Please take a moment to alert Microsoft to the issue by using the Menu Bar and choosing Help > Feedback > I Don't Like Something. The more reports they get, the more likely it is they will pay attention to the issue. If they don't hear from affected users, they assume all is well.

Hi, this is what I did - uninstall all the Microsoft office application off the mac and reinstall the previous office version from this URL: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac

    May 14, 2024 16.85 (24051214)

    Office suite (with Teams)

Just remember to turn off the auto-update for now and don't update excel to the 16.86 version (yet).

I have this same EXACT problem since updating to Microsoft Excel 16.86 on MAC on Wednesday 6/12 - my work's pivot table won't recognize month/year grouping anymore when I "refresh" the table (I have not changed any settings - always been the same; tried to recreate it, no bueno).

It was working fine in 16.85 version, therefore I had to revert back to the previous version for now, and was able to refresh the pivot table without losing my months/year/days. (Can confirm no issues on the PC's 16.86 version when "refreshing" the table - it's VERY buggy on MAC... please fix, Microsoft)

You don't mention which Excel version you are currently on. But, please make sure that you didn't accidentally check the box that 'disables automatic grouping of dates/time in pivot tables'.
