SharePoint Renaming Issue

Hello,

I've had this issue at multiple companies. It's not the end of the world, but it's incredibly frustrating as someone who works in HR and is saving/renaming multiple files each day.

I have share point folders synced to the folder explorer. When dragging emails, PDFs, word docs in there from outlook, often when pressing enter after renaming the file, it doesn't rename it; the renaming just disappears and it reverts back to the original name.

I've gotten into the habit of pressing ctrl A and Ctrl C to copy the name in case I need to do it again because some have fairly complex names and it takes time.

Is there a fix for this?

    Same issue here. OneDrive doesn't handle this. Duplicating files or folder in the sync folder and trying to rename it immediately means the name gets erased. OneDrive shouldn't interfere with the name change.. Currently I have to wait until the 'status' of the file shows synched (Green checkmark). if it still shows synching (refreshing), have to avoid renaming. Adds delays to your work if you have tens of cases like this everyday.

    Sorry for the late response. I will help you further troubleshoot the issue.

    When testing in the SharePoint sync folder on my computer, I didn't reproduce the issue when I tried saving a file from Outlook to the sync folder and then renaming the file. It worked when I renamed Word and PDF file.

    To narrow down the situation, may I know if this issue only happens when you rename files in the SharePoint sync folder? What about when you rename files in other local folders in File Explorer?

    If issue only happens in SharePoint sync folder, you may try resetting OneDrive App, then set up syncing SharePoint files with OneDrive again.

    If same issue persists, I understand how frustrating this situation can be and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. To further investigate the issue, I would appreciate if you could share following information:

    1.May I know the version of your OneDrive App and Windows OS?

    2.Does the same issue happen in all of your SharePoint folders synced in File Explorer?

    I understand your concern, when you drag emails, PDFs, Word docs to SharePoint sync folder from Outlook, renaming file doesn't work.
