Bring back "Always keep on this device" for OneDrive!

Why in hell would you remove "Always keep on this device" as an option from OneDrive? There are files I want to have readily available and other files I have less need for instant access. This is really a poor decision!!!

I really believe MS is going backward when it comes to product usability. Every "Improvement", every "update" and "upgrade" means the loss of some fave feature that lots of people use. Every 'improvement' to Windows OS means a period of frustration and poor productivity as we ARE FORCED to adapt to new user interfaces when we were just fine and in fact very productive using the old interface which worked just fine for us. Ever heard of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Seems your new mottos is "If it ain't broke let's break it"! Is it that you really don't care any more about your customers other than that we keep giving you money, knowing you have a monopoly?

The feature is not there any longer and there are multiple threads in this forum which talk about this.

I'm in Windows Explorer, looking at folders and files in OneDrive. Used to be when you right-clicked on files or folders in OneDrive you had multiple selections regarding the files and their physical locations. One was "Always keep on this device" which did exactly that; made a physical copy on the device's drive, so if you were disconnected from the internet, you could still access the file. Another was "Free up space on this device" which would remove the file from the local device but keep it in the cloud. Both of those choices are gone now. Both of these are extremely useful to me and now that they are gone I only have a choice of removing the files from OneDrive and putting them on the local device. Which of course defeats the purpose of OneDrive which is that our files are available whereever we can find internet.

Do you have Files On-Demand enabled?

On Windows 11, it is at OneDrive Settings > Sync and Backup > Advanced settings > Files On-Demand > Free up disk space.

    On Windows 10, see this:

    Can you explain further?

    That feature is still there.

Are you in Windows Explorer or looking until settings in the OneDrive program?
