Reference Point For Where You Stopped In A Document

You know how you can have a long, multi-page document, book or whatever. You close it out and go back to it the next day and it tells you where you were when it was last used. Is there a way to set Word to do that? I am finding that it only does it sometimes.

The keyboard shortcut to go back to the last edit point is Shift+F5 (Fn+Shift+F5 on some computers), but ever since Microsoft introduced the "Pick up where you left off" feature in Word, both that and the keyboard shortcut (when used on opening a document) have been hit-or-miss. So your experience that "it only does it sometimes" is not unusual.

    We understand that you want to inquire about the "return to last edited position" function in Word.

    Unfortunately, there is no clear setting in Word to fix the last edited position. However, when you reopen the document, you can pay attention to the right scroll bar of Word. If Word prompts "Welcome back! Continue from where you left", click the prompt box to return to the last edited position.

    Or you can press the Shift key and F5 key on the keyboard at the same time, and Word will automatically jump to the last edited position before saving and closing the document. (If it doesn't work, you can try Shift+Fn+F5)

    You can try using shortcut keys to see if your needs can be met. In addition, we also recommend that you submit this suggestion on the **** Word feedback platform (if it is convenient, please provide as many details as possible, including pictures, copy videos, etc.), where a dedicated developer will pay attention to and comment on your feedback.
