I cannot see the numbers in the horizontal ruler. In another thread it said that you should turn off "new experience" but I don't see the megaphone to do that can someone advise how I can see the numbers on the horizontal ruler?
Very frustrating

Thank you and have a good day!

To get rid of the "New Experience"/"Visual Refresh" you can try the registry hack noted in my article:

I think it would be therapeutic to read what I wrote before your reply:

Firstly, you can try turning off the "New Experience" feature. To do this, click on the Megaphone icon at the top right of your screen and select "Turn off New experience" from the dropdown menu. You'll need to restart Word after making this change. Once you have restarted, check if the measurement numbers reappear on the horizontal ruler.

I explicitly wrote that I don't see the megaphone and therefore cannot turn off the new experience.

If the vertical ruler is still missing,

I never said vertical ruler is missing it is their numbers are there also I'm talking explicitly about the horizontal ruler and the numbers are not showing

    You have a real solution?

    Thank you

    Hello Susan Flamingo,

I'm Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thank you for posting your query in this forum.

I'm sorry you are facing issues with the horizontal ruler in Microsoft Word. I completely understand how frustrating it can be when essential features seem to vanish. Let me provide you with some steps that you can try to troubleshoot this issue.

If turning off the "New Experience" feature doesn't work, you can try checking your view settings. Ensure you are in Print Layout view (you can switch views by going to the View tab). If the vertical ruler is still missing, go to File > Options > Advanced, and under Display, make sure that "Show vertical ruler in Print Layout view" is selected. Remember to restart Word after any changes.

I hope one of these steps will return those elusive measurement numbers. If you encounter any further issues, feel free to reach out. Have a great day, Susan Flamingo!

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi
