The pop-op "+" button in Word for adding rows in tables has disappeared

Hi

I am currently using the Microsoft 365 Family subscription and I'm finding the plus "+" to insert a row in an existing table has disappeared on some of my Word documents.

I created basic word documents with a two column table & multiple rows. I use it to record my daily activity for some client's work.

I've got two documents, almost identical. One has suddenly lost the option plus "+" to insert a row. It literally was there, I used it and less than 30 seconds later, gone.

I've run a check for any updates (which there was one) so my software is up to date.

I've checked under Advances, Display and the "Show pop-up buttons for adding rows and columns in tables" is checked.

How do I recover the "+" insert option?

    Hi

Thank you. I'm familiar with all the other ways to insert a row and column. I'm finding it frustrating that this software is unreliable. One minute it's there and I'm happily working away on the document and the next minute, the plus "+" to insert a row is no longer there.

I just wish Microsoft could provide a reliable product and / or, provide a resolution to fix this problem. After all, I pay them for it.

If you're just wanting to add a row at the end of the table, you can tab out of the last cell to add a row. Otherwise, you can select the row and use the Insert button on the mini toolbar:

If the selected row is the last in the table, the button will default to Insert Below.

Alternatively, you can right-click in the selected row, select Insert, and choose from the menu:

Either of these methods will insert the number of row selected: select four rows and four new rows will be inserted (above or below, as desired), as does the + button. All of these methods are more trouble than using the + button, but they are options that are available is you cannot get the + button back.

Actually, Microsoft has provided several reliable products, but they're out of support. I have no such issues with Word 2010. Of course, it doesn't even have the + button--or several other useful features--but what it does have Just Works.

    Thank you

I always have it on Print Layout so this hasn't resolved the missing plus "+" - so frustrating that it's there sometimes and randomly it stops working.

    Thank you for your time.

Make sure that you are viewing the document in Print Layout view. You can use the button for Print Layout on the status bar in Word (or you can use View tab > Views group > Print Layout).
