Issues with Conversation Sessions in Microsoft Translator - not letting students log in

Hello, my school uses the conversation sessions in class with ESL students. Sometimes it works perfectly fine but other times it doesn't let the students log in to a session that we start. For example, I'll start a session and give them the code. They try to log in but then it stays on the loading page. When it does that, I try to log in to the session using my phone or someone else's phone and I get a message saying the session doesn't exist. We use a phone to start a session and students log in using their computers. When we try to log in with phones we get error messages.

    Hi Ulisa Luna,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

Per your description, sometimes when you create a conversation session, all students are unable to join this session. This indicates that the problem is on the creator's side, e.g. there may be a problem with the conversation session you created, the device settings, or the network that prevents all other users from joining.

In this case, I suggest you check the following points and check the results.

    1. In the session, please click the "Add Users" button next to the microphone icon to allow students to scan the QR code to join. Check if the problem still occurs.
    2. Please make sure that all devices have Bluetooth turned on.
    3. Ensure that the conversation allows for nearby searches. You can check to see the green sign icon next to the session title.

  2. I recommend that you check the permissions settings on your device's system for the Microsoft Translator app. On iPhone/iPad devices, you can go to System Settings, find the Translator app, make sure Bluetooth is enabled and “Wireless Data” is set to “WLAN & Cellular”.
  3. Please note that joining a conversation session requires a stable network for both the creator and joiners. Make sure that the first device is connecting to the network (with WiFi or data connection).

If the above points don't help, since other users cannot join the session created on the first device, but can join the session on a phone (another device), this indicates that there may be some problem with the network of the first device. In this case, I recommend you connect to another network and check again. Also, you can contact your IT team to troubleshoot the network.

Appreciate your understanding and patience.

Sincerely,

George | Microsoft Community Moderator
