I am unable to search for and insert online content in Excel or Word. The solutions online state that this option box must be checked but in my Office 365 they are disabled so they cannot be checked. What is the solution?

Hi! David-Efros,

Thanks for your response!

In my experience, sometimes updating apps can cause some settings to be reset. So you're right, maybe an update caused your settings to be changed.

I am glad I was able to help, Please feel free to mark Yes or No above that contained the solution to make it easier for other customers to find the solution more quickly.

Have a nice day!

Best Regards

    Hi! David-Efros,

Thank you for your response! I've just made more attempts and found that when "All connected experiences" is not checked, "Experiences that analyze your content" and "Experiences that download online content" become uncheckable. Therefore, please scroll down in the Privacy Settings interface to check if "All connected experiences" is selected.

Thank you for your understanding and patience and I look forward to hearing from you.

I have been using Office products since the beginning, and even taught Word, Excel, Access, as well as the VBA side for professionals. I have checked most of these obvious issues. My account is an Administrator. Screens are attached.

    Hi! David-Efros,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community! I realize that you've encountered a problem with unable to open Excel's “Experiences that download Online Content” and I understand how you feel. Due to the rarity of your question, and in order to be able to investigate this issue further, I sincerely invite you to share the following information with me:

    1. Please provide me with the detailed version information of the Office application you are currently using: Please open an Excel document > click on File in the upper-left corner > click on Account in the lower-left corner, and provide me with a screenshot of the complete page (if the screenshot contains private information, please cover it up and upload it )
    2. Is your current Windows user an administrator?

Currently your issue looks like it may be related to permissions, for now I would suggest you try creating a new Windows Local Administrator account, then launching the Office applications and logging into your Microsoft account in the new account, and then testing if the issue persists under the new account. Below are the detailed steps to create a new Windows Local Administrator account: Add a local user account 1.Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & other users. (In some versions of Windows you'll see Other users.)

2.Under Add other user , select Add account

3.select the option Add a user without a Microsoft account (Enter the account information for this person to sign in) 4.Follow the instructions to finish setting up the accountConfigure a user as an administrator 1.Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & other users. (In some versions of Windows you'll see Other users.)

2.Under Other users, select the flyout for the account you want to change

3.Next to Account options, select Change account type 4.From the dropdown, select the account type and then select OKPlease Visit Manage user accounts in Windows - Microsoft Support for more details.Thank you for your understanding and patience and I look forward to hearing from you.
