MS Project Manual Task greyed out.

Hello,

like in this post: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/msp-2016-manual-task-mode-unavailable/6f6e11af-3b04-4f58-84bd-24032d7eceba

I am facing the same problem with a greyed out button for manual tasks. I use the MS Project Online Desktop-Client. Maybe this setting has been made by the administrator by accident, because when I was asking no one could imagine, that this sort of regulation has been made on purpose.

So my question is: which setting has to be undone and where, so that the manual task mode is available again?

Thanks in advance.

Best

Hello, thank you for your reply.

Actually, I was able to solve the Problem. The Problem is, that by default Projects are saved in the old Project-Format in compatibility mode for Project 2007. New Projects are also by default opened in compatibility mode. After saving the project in a new (2010+) format I was able to use manual task planning.

... very strange, sorry for the inconvenience.

Best

Hugo

    shreyas salvi,

It doesn't look like your issue has anything to do with this thread. I suggest you re-post as a new issue and explain in enough detail such that someone may be able to help you. As written, your post doesn't explain anything about what you are trying to do. For example, what version of Project are you trying to use?

    Hugo --

Yes, you are correct that the behavior you see is an option set by your organization's Project Online or Project Server application administrator. Apparently this option was applied because your organization has a policy that PMs should not use Manually Scheduled tasks. However, if this option was applied in error, and PMs should be able to use Manually Scheduled tasks (if they choose to do so), then tell your application administrator to do the following:

    1. Log into PWA and navigate to the PWA Settings page.
    2. In the Operational Policies section of the page, click the Additional Server Settings link.
    3. On the Additional Server Settings page, scroll down to the Task Mode Settings section.
    4. In that section of the page, select the "Users can override default in Project Professional" checkbox.
    5. Click the Save button to save these changes.

After your app admin has changed this setting, you will need to exit Microsoft Project Professional completely, then restart the software and connect to PWA again. Hope this helps.
