Hello MS team,

Currently, I'm facing this issue and I need your help,

I use both English and Vietnamese in Document Word. However, the Word/ documents auto-fixed the word for Vietnamese, and I got stuck a lot with this. To avoid trouble in both languages, I want to turn it off forever for each new Document or at least until I want to turn it on again. How can I do this?

Hi Tuan Tran Hoang Minh

I'm glad you replied to my message.

According to your problem, it may be that word is automatically detecting the language for you, you can turn off this function.

Here are the steps.

  • Set the language (disable automatic language detection)
  • Open a document and make sure the document you are editing is loaded.
  • In the Review tab, find the Language option,Click on LanguageIt is usually located on the right side of this tab.
  • Set Proofing Language.(Some versions don't have this button, you can skip it)
  • In the pop-up dialog box, uncheck Automatically detect language.
  • Select the language you want to use for your document (for example, English or Vietnamese).
  • Click OK to save the settings.

If you have any progress, please contact us.

Sincere greetings

    Hi Tuan Tran Hoang Minh

I'm glad you replied to my message.

I understand that there is no language key in Microsoft 365, but you can find “Set proofing language” in the search box above.

After my test, you can click “Current Document”, which means that the language you choose applies to the current document, so you won't get any error.

If there is still a problem, it may be caused by your input hair.

Do you encounter the same problem when editing in local word?

If you have any progress, please contact us.

    Sincere greetings

    Hi Peter,

It seems like the language option does not exist in Office 365, I have tried my best to find the language option but I can not find it anywhere in office 365

I tried again by switching the current 365 to my desktop, but the language option only exists on word app on my desktop, and not on MS 365

    Here are some images:

    MS 365:

I tried to turn off proofing language also

But still get problems like the first topic

    Desktop app:

I turned off auto-detect language from my desktop and everything worked fine.

=> I think It's very hard to turn off the auto-detect language on MS365 word

Note: I still have problems with MS365 without turning off the auto-detect language

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply, the problem that I'm getting is the Document words on SharePoint MS365

I can not turn off the feature "Review > Proofing > Spelling and Grammar > set proofing language"

I select 2 languages: English and Vietnamese. My document also uses both languages, However, Each time I typed English mixed Vietnamese, the word replaced the English language into Vietnamese suddenly

    For e.g:

"script để tạo frontend" when I stop typing, the sentence will be replaced with "script để tao" automatically

"Document sơ đồ network của dự án" was also replaced with "Document sơ đồ netwỏ" (when I stopped typing)

I don't know the way to turn this feature permanently, It was annoying to me and prevented me from using Document Word MS365 recently. furthermore, each new MS365 Document created from me which always gets this problem

Does it have any way to turn this feature off?

Note: I tried your way above and it didn't have any luck in solving this issues

    Hi Tuan Tran Hoang Minh.

Thank you for using Microsoft products and for contributing to the community.

I realize that you have encountered a problem with word.

You can change the language of word by the following method:

Click on the Apple icon in the upper right corner. Select “System Settings” >> “General” >> “Language and Region” >> under “Applications” select word software to change the language of the application.

This step will restart word, please save the word document in time.

If you have any progress, please contact us.

    Sincere greetings
