Stack overflow at line 68 in Word

I keep encountering a "stack overflow" error at line 68 in Microsoft Word, which requires me to close each one to continue using the program. While this doesn't render the software unusable, it is pretty annoying because if I don't close all the alerts, I cannot edit my documents. This issue only occurs in Word and not in any other Office applications. I have researched the problem and made sure that I have installed all the latest updates. I also use the latest version of Microsoft Edge. (current version of system: Windows 11) Any tips?

    I had the same issue, I had one addon installed (called writefull for word) to check spelling and grammar.
    After I uninstaled it that message disappeared.

    Hello Hsin mei, Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community. Regarding your problem with Word's stack overflow prompt;

    Please try to troubleshoot the problem in the following ways:

    • Create a txt text document, and then copy and paste the content of the Word document page 68 into the txt text, and then copy the content from the txt text to replace the content of page 68; this can be completely deleted from page 68 of all the formatting to rule out whether some of the content of the page to cause the problem;
    • Disabling add-ons:
    1. Open Word and click on File > Options > Add-ins.
    2. Select “COM Add-ons” in the “Manage” drop-down menu and click “Go”.
    3. Uncheck all add-ons and click OK.
    • Check macros and scripts: If you are using macros or scripts, make sure they do not have infinite loops or recursive calls.
    • Use the official tools to completely uninstall office, and then reinstall:Uninstall Office from a PC - Microsoft Support this is cleaner than the general uninstallation, there will be no residual.

    I look forward to your reply and I will give you further support as soon as possible based on your reply.
