    Hello, Eric Rossiter.

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

In Excel, by default, when you press "Enter" after typing in a cell, the cursor usually moves down to the next cell. If you want to change this behavior so that it moves across (to the right), here's how you can adjust the settings on your iPad mini:

Change Enter Key Behavior on Excel for iPad:

Unfortunately, Excel for iPad doesn't have an option like the desktop version to change the direction of the cursor automatically after pressing Enter. But here are a couple of workarounds:

    1. Use the "Tab" key to move across:

    • Instead of pressing "Enter" after typing in a cell, press the Tab key on your on-screen keyboard or a connected physical keyboard.
    • This will move the cursor to the right, across the row.

    2. Manual navigation:

    • You can also manually tap the cell you want to move to, or use the arrows on a connected keyboard to move in any direction after pressing "Enter."

If you're using a keyboard case or external keyboard with your iPad, using the Tab key is the easiest method to move horizontally. Unfortunately, there’s no direct setting for cursor movement direction like on the desktop version, but those tips should make navigation smoother.

Feel free to share updates with me on how things are progressing after you've completed the aforementioned steps. Should you have any questions or require clarification, do not hesitate to reach out to me. I‘d like to do my utmost to assist you.
