Use sway for interactive homework

I want to create a Sway for each of my students so that they can answer questions on the sway. I would like to have editable areas on the sway for them to answer. Is that possible?

Dear Ruth Whelan,

Thank you for sharing the detail information with us. Per my testing, "Word" will require users log in to edit, which might not fully fit your requirement. However, "Microsoft Forms" will work without no problems. I just open the sway from browser's incognito window without loging in any account. Here is how it looks like. You can see the "Forms" questions are displayed correctly and users can edit and submit.

Here are some points you might need to pay attention.

When sharing Microsoft Forms, make sure it is set to "anyone can response".

When sharing Sway, set it as "anyone can view".

Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions. At last, if you found my upper suggestions helpful, could you please take a moment to vote for my response? It helps us improve the support we provide to customers like you. And other users who are facing same query can easily find this thread and check suggestion when they search on community. Your vote helps other user to resolve their queries.

Thanks again, and have a great day ahead!

Best regards,

    Hi Sophia,

That was a really helpful response, thank you!

My challenge with the learners I have is that they do not have Onedrive access. While I will be using MS apps including Sway, MS Word and Powerpoint to deliver classes, they don't and won't have access to the Onedrive as it is exclusive to the teachers only.

The reason sway is so good is that I can share it with them and they can view it on their phones etc. My learners are often people without english as their first language and many of them are experiencing poverty or social exclusion. Some only have phones to do homework.

If I embed a Word document for them to edit in the Sway, will they be able to use it if they are not apart of the One Drive access group? Most will not have access to a personal One Drive either and we don't currently have the resources to offer them a student account.

I am assuming that without access to Onedrive etc the learners will not be able to use the embed feature you mention?

    Thank you and kind regards,

    Ruth.

    Dear Ruth Whelan,

    Thank you for reaching out!

Currently, Microsoft Sway does not support interactive forms or editable areas where students can directly type answers within the Sway itself. However, you can create a Sway with embedded links to tools like Microsoft Forms or Microsoft Word, which would allow students to input their answers in a more interactive way.

Here's how you could set it up:

    1. Create a form and then go Share > Embed > copy.

Or you can create a word file from your OneDrive and click File > Share > Embed this document.

    1. Create a new sway, add a new section, go Media > Embed.

    1. Paste the code into this part.

This way, students will be able to interact with the content you create in Sway while still submitting their answers through another tool that allows for editable responses.

If you need further guidance on how to set up a Microsoft Form or OneNote within Sway, please feel free to ask!

    Best regards,

    Sophia
