As what i mentioned in the title, I am a Chinese international student in Malaysia, and I am unable to subscribe to Office 365 by using a personal product key purchased locally.

My laptop was purchased in Mainland China. Last year, I attempted to subscribe using a product key bought in Mainland China, but due to network issues, the subscription process failed. I was only able to successfully subscribe when I returned to China during the holidays.

I would like to know how I should use the product key purchased in Malaysia？

I believe my current location is Malaysia.

    I am glad to get your reply. Thank you very much.

    I subscribed to office365 for one month by using a credit card from a local bank in Malaysia, and then the next day I successfully used the key purchased in Malaysia.

    The redemption and subscription of Office does have requirements for the region, and it is not just your region, the network environment and the region of the account will also have an impact.

    If you purchased the key in Malaysia, we recommend that you create a new Microsoft account, make the region where you created the account and the setting region both Malaysia, and then try to associate the key with the new account again, and use the new account to activate Microsoft 365 to minimize the impact of the region on it.

    Office product key error "This product key isn't meant for your region" Applies To

    When you redeem an Office product key or activate Office, you might see the following error messages:

    "This product key isn't meant for your region"

    "This product couldn't be activated because the product key can only be activated in certain geographic regions"

    If you get this message, this means that your product key was purchased in a different country or region than where you're currently located. Office product keys must be redeemed in the country or region where they are purchased. For help with this error, contact Microsoft support.
