Hello all,

I have a lengthy Word doc and I would like to add hyperlinks internal of the document so users can quickly navigate. In the "Insert Hyperlink" Dialog, the pane for "Select a place in this document" does not update, and I cannot find out how to make it do so.

I attempted to load a screen snip but it would not allow me to.

As a follow up to my last posting, I deleted the TOC, erased all formatting, saved under a new name, re- formatted the entire document. ZERO change!

    Ralph,

Thank you for the quick reply. Here are the results:

#1 - I did so. No change to the issue.

#2 - I did so. When I selected the last TOC item on the list, and clicked "ADD", I got an error message "THE BOOKMARK NAME IS NOT VALID"

#3 When I selected the section header which is the last item in the "Select a place in this document" dialog and tried to delete/clear the hyperlink, there was no right click selection for doing that. I re-did the Style (Heading 4) but now that section header does not show in the "Select a place in this document" dialog.

#4 I did a CTRL+A, and then CTRL+V into a new document. The issue followed.

#5. See below. Basically, the TOC list stops populating well before its end point.

    Dear Kevin Godwin,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with viewing pictures you collected in a "forms" survey. I deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial response may not resolve the problem immediately. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, for further troubleshooting, could you please provide the information below:

    1. Could you please try updating the field codes in your document by pressing Ctrl + A to select the entire document and then pressing F9 to update all field codes?
    2. Would you mind checking for hidden bookmarks? You can do this by going to the "Insert" tab, clicking on "Bookmark", checking the "Hidden bookmarks" box, locating and selecting the bookmark that matches the hyperlink you are trying to update, and then clicking "Add" to update the bookmark.
    3. If the above steps do not work, could you please try removing the existing hyperlink and creating a new one? You can do this by right-clicking on the hyperlink and selecting "Remove Hyperlink", then highlighting the text you want to hyperlink, going to the "Insert" tab, and clicking on "Hyperlink". In the "Insert Hyperlink" dialog, please select "Place in This Document" and choose the appropriate location.
    4. Could you please check for document corruption by copying the content to a new Word document and seeing if the issue persists?
    5. If the issue still persist, could you please provide a screenshot related to the issue/error? You can upload the screenshot using this feature:

Also, could you please have a look at the following article it might prove to be helpful: Cross-reference links do not update to correct heading number - Microsoft 365 Apps | Microsoft Learn

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,
