Hello.

I'm a user of old Mac (macOS Big Sur version 11.4).

Due to some reasons, I had to remove all the microsoft apps and redownload them recently.

However, after downloading microsoft office 16.77, I still cannot use OneDrive app.

I'm wondering if there's a download link of the available version of OneDrive which can be applied on my laptop.

Thank you.

I know this was months ago, so this can't help you now, but for others who come here with the same issue - if you can just find *somebody* with an old mac, all they have to do is literally send you the "app" file itself. Not even an install dmg. Just drag it from the Applications folder to a shared drive/folder to get it to you. From there, you drag and drop it in your Applications folder and it works automatically like an installed program. I did this on a 2012 MacBook Pro running 10.15 Catalina Mac OS just the other day. My husband and I both have old MacBooks we still use, and I wanted my husband to use OneDrive but he had never installed it before on that computer so he couldn't use it. Then I thought I'd try just copying the App from my old MacBook to his, and it worked. Best of luck to all of you out there trying to preserve your perfectly good old computers.

And what is worse: My onedrive updated (automatically) to a version where I cannot use it and now I don't have acces to my files on demand that were ON MY COMPUTER.

    Such a disaster service.

The situation with Apple and Microsoft not properly supporting 'legacy' models that otherwise work perfectly well is not acceptable as far as I am concerned. I have cancelled my subscription to Apple for Windows and I am going out to buy a second-hand PC laptop that will come with Windows installed so I can use One Drive and Teams (that's all over the place on my 2016 Macpro too) as intended. I don't have the funds, even for a second-hand Apple, especially if in four years time they add it to the list of 'legacy' products they'd rather kick into the long grass.

Apple can't sell the most expensive computers meant to last and then stop supporting/updating software because the hardware is more than four years old.

I don't know if Microsoft is also to blame here but I needed to at least get to complain somewhere.

    Hi, KC_015.

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Knowing that you are a Mac (macOS Big Sur version 11.4) user, your current experience of not being able to use the OneDrive app may be a design situation. Since OneDrive works with Microsoft 365 / Office suite, and since Apple will fully support ARM M-series processors by 2020, and since early Mac devices are all Intel chips (X64 architecture), Microsoft can only develop apps that are fully compatible with ARM Apple processors. As a result, Microsoft can only develop applications that are fully compatible with Apple's ARM processors, and thus no longer have good compatibility with earlier Mac systems.

For more details, please refer to-<Download the OneDrive App for PC, Mac, Android, or iOS – Microsoft OneDrive>

In addition, if you still want to download an earlier version of OneDrive (although it is recommended that you download the above version of OneDrive for a better experience), then you can refer to the following scenario from the English community thread, from which the main mention is a series of scenarios after downloading an older version to reach the result of using an older version of OneDrive. The general steps are as follows:

    1.Disable OneDrive StandaloneUpdater /

2.and edit the Hosts file /

    3.Download Firewall

The article ends with a direct download link provided by Tony the TechCom. Its for macOS Catalina 10.15.x but also older versions of OneDrive can be installed on BigSur.

Thank you. This information was very helpful. I have already wasted a lot of valuable time. For older versions of MacBook Air it is not possible to upgrade the Apple O/S beyond Big Sur. This causes me to wonder why Apple/Microsoft cannot detect the Apple O/S version being used and prevent the automatic upgrade if it is not compatible.
