Are you using any software other than Word in the document? EndNote, for example. I'm thinking the 1F, 2F, etc,, might be related to the footnote references such as shown in your screen shot.

This is an old post but this may help if you have been searching for a solution. You should always use the print function then save as "ADOBE PDF" this will create a PDF using a different PDF converter. Do not use the microsoft "Save As PDF" only use the PRINT>SAVE AS ADOBE PDF.

    hope this helps...

To try and narrow down under which circumstances these "additional letters" are added, have you tried the Save As dialog box in Word? To display the dialog, press F12 (or Fn+F12 on some keyboards).

Also, have you tried using the converter provided by Adobe?

Similar issues have been reported in the past.

Does this happen when you use the PDF converter provided by Adobe?

    Dear Mo Hala,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community. We are happy to offer our assistance.

The screenshot you attached was broken, you could use the Image to attach the screenshot to help us better understand your scenario.

This issue may occur due to font embedding issues during the conversion process. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open the Word document and go to File > Options > Save.
    2. Under the "Preserve fidelity when sharing this document" section, select "Embed fonts in the file" and then select "Embed all characters".
    3. Save the document and then try converting it to PDF again.

If the issue persists, please provide us with more details about the Word document and the PDF converter you are using so that we can assist you further.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Have a great day.

    Sincerely,

    Sean | Microsoft Community Moderator
