I've already tried commands, Youtube, uninstalling then reinstalling, and now I'm trying to find a download to replace the thing.

Tried commands

  • regsvr32 urlmon.dll
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

(*note it stopped at 22.4% ERROR: 605 then is says specified buffer contains ill-formed data.)

    Hi, DanieltheDino

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Based on your description, it seems that you have encountered an issue with a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) file named “urlmon.dll” that cannot be loaded in your computer's operating system.

You should know that “urlmon.dll” is part of the Windows operating system and belongs to the ActiveX Component Object Model (COM), which is used to manage URL encapsulation and Internet protocol implementation. When you encounter “Fail to load library: urlmon.dll” error, it usually means that your operating system is having problems trying to load this DLL file. This can be due to a corrupt file, registry error, missing or corrupted system files, and so on. Solving this problem usually requires a system repair, re-registering the DLL file, updating or replacing the corrupted file, etc.

However, you mentioned that you have already tried the command to re-register the DLL file but the problem still persists, so it should be caused by a system issue. In this case, you can try the method of overlaying the installation of the system by referring to the following steps:

By this method of overriding the installation, you can clean up the current system which will help to solve some of the problems under the system.

    1. Visit the following site to download the Media Creation Tool. Internet Explorer will be used here to download the tool

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/

    1. Below is a tutorial to override the installation, you can click here for reference:
    • Double-click to open the downloaded MediaCreationTool1809.exe file, the Windows 10 installer interface will pop up, choose to accept the agreement.
    • Use the recommended options without modification, next, select the ISO file to save the location and file name, wait for the download to complete, the ISO file is saved!
    • Right-click the downloaded ISO file > Mount, open the setup.exe file in the mounted ISO drive.
    • Download updates, drivers and optional features by default, next step
    • Accept the license terms, wait for the update to complete
    • Keep personal files and applications by default, wait for the installation to complete, will go through several reboot process.

Picture of the system after installation, personal files and installed applications are not affected. With the above steps, you can complete the overlay installation of your system. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reply.

Disclaimer: Let's try to override the installation system, this will refresh your Windows files and operating system and will not delete files or applications. However, we still recommend backing up your computer in advance if it contains important data.

Looking forward to your any updates.

    Sincerely,
