I am having MS 365 office installed and my Format Painter double click option is not working. I have gone through the answer provided in the community to use the shortcut key Ctr+Shift+C and Ctrl+Shift+V to use this function also, but this is also not working in my system. Please help as sometimes it gets very difficult to go and select format painter each time

Try Ctrl+Alt+C for copy formatting and Ctrl+Alt+V for paste formatting.

As Charles says, Microsoft has been changing shortcuts recently.

Microsoft has been messing with the shortcuts, I believe.

Do check the Assign Keyboard Shortcut dialog to make sure these are assigned to the copy format and paste format commands.

(I agree with Stefan that you can simply use the new commands if they are on your system.)

However, if you want to keep the ones you know, you can change them in the Assign Keyboard Shortcut Dialog.

Here is a temporary link to a free, macro-free, template that will restore the shortcuts you are used to if placed in your Word Startup Folder: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/w343yzx0hrt7swcur4gg3/Copy-and-Paste-Format-Keyboard-Shortcuts-Add-In.dotx?rlkey=wod7obcmk5t4ubgia65cyipdd&dl=0

    Hi Arpan,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

Per your description, I have tested it on my end and cannot reproduce the same situation. I suggest you try the following suggestions and check again.

    1. Check if the relevant shortcuts are assigned to the corresponding commands.

In Word, click File> Options> Customize Ribbon> Keyboard shortcuts: Customize. In the Customize Keyboard dialog, select one command in the right Commands list. In the "Press new shortcut key" field, press Ctrl+Shift+C, and check if the shortcut is currently assigned to CopyFormat. Press Ctrl+Shift+V and check if the shortcut is currently assigned to PasteFormat.

  4. Please restart your device and check again. Sometimes there may be a glitch.
  5. I suggest you try to set Word into Safe Mode and check again. This can help us to troubleshoot whether the issue is caused by Word startup items, such as add-ins.

Close Word first, press Win + R, in the Run box, type winword /safe, and click OK.

  1. I suggest you perform a clean boot in Windows. Disable all startup items, and then check again.
  2. I suggest you Repair Office and choose Online Repair. After that, open the document and check again.

Go to Windows Settings> "Apps & features" (or Apps> Installed apps)> find and select the Office product, such as Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise en-us> click Modify> choose Online Repair. After that, please run Word and check again.

If the above suggestions don't help, I would like to collect more information to troubleshoot.

  1. I would like to know your Word version and the full name of the product/subscription.

You can click File> Account and check the highlighted area as shown below.

  • Does the situation happen in a specific document or all documents? You can create a blank new document to test.
  • Does the situation happen in other Office applications, such as PowerPoint?
  • We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
