Use the Ctrl+F9 shortcut (or Ctrl+Fn+F9 on some laptops) to insert the field braces, and type the keyword SEQ followed by a space and at least one letter -- use the same letter(s) in each SEQ field. When the field is complete, press F9 (or Fn+F9) to update the field and display the equation's number instead of the field code. See Word Fields - Useful Keyboard Shortcuts for more information.
You can copy the #({SEQ num}) expression and paste it into each equation, or save it as an AutoText entry or a formatted AutoCorrect entry.

If you insert or delete an equation in the middle of a sequence, or if you reorder the equations, you need to select all (Ctrl+A) and update the fields (F9) to show the revised numbers.
