"System font regular" glitch upon saving whenever I use custom dot points in Powerpoint

Hi there,

We recently started using a new PPT template and now whenever I try and make custom dot point styles (eg a - as the symbol instead of the dot) I get this error message upon trying to save:

It doesn't matter what font I use, whether it's a custom one or a default microsoft one, this glitch happens.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm on a Mac and the glitch doesn't seem to occur on my Window's PC so it looks Mac specific?

Thanks

I found the answer on this page here, the only way you can do custom bullet points on a mac is to use the font variation panel and pick the right font version of the symbol, otherwise you get the above error message.

    Hi Cliff,

Unfortunately the fix I found pretty much immediately broke. The font variable panel is no longer visible, any idea why this might be?

The scroll bar looks like it's the same length as it was before, as it used to show all the variations of that symbol in every font I have installed, however everything is completely blank now.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tyler

    Hi John,

Your article was a total life saver, I was pulling my hair out and yours was the only fix that worked, thank so much! I plan on letting the agency who built our template know about this glitch so they can advise/pre make working dot points for others in the future.

    Thanks,

    Tyler
