New Version of Microsoft Planner not showing checklist items under 'My Tasks' - WHY?

Hello,

When in My Tasks on Planner (new version), I want to be able to click the "i" icon when hovering over a task, open the task window up and review the checklist items I have previously added within the Task, via My Plans. For some reason, when I go onto My Tasks, checklists aren't even an option that comes up (attached images aren't working).

I get a notification on the opened Task that reads "This task was created in a premium plan, so some task fields are not available.Go to premium plan". Now, I have a premium plan and everyone in the team I have assigned a task to also has a premium plan, but yet it does not allow me to access the checklist items without going into the Plan itself via My Plans and viewing the checklist items there.

The problem I have with that approach (besides it being long-winded), is the fact that I don't want to give everyone access to 'My Plans' section, as they can edit dates and delete actions etc. Why can't anyone assigned an action simply go onto My Tasks, expand their task and tick off the checklist items and eventually close the action? All the information should be here, the same as it is in My Plans, but most of the information (checklists included) isn't.

This must be possible but I can't find anything online that will help me with this.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

Locke.

Dear Locke,

The Planner Premium's data is stored in Microsoft Dataverse which is Project for the web not the normal Planner which is stored in Azure. So you can't edit the data in My Tasks directly and not all fields will appear in My Tasks in Planner which is an Azure location. You need to go to Microsoft Dataverse to edit the plan data and see all fields by clicking on Go to premium plan.

The Pinned lost shows an embedded UI of Project for the web in the Microsoft Dataverse location, so you can edit the data and see all fields there directly.

For your reference: Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Planner - Microsoft Support

Microsoft Planner for admins - Microsoft Planner | Microsoft Learn

If you create a normal plan which uses the standard template, the plan is stored in Azure and you should see the checklists in My Tasks and Pinned.

Hope that the information above helps you.

Thank you for your time and effort.

Sincerely

    Hi Cliff,

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. Unfortunately, I am not quite following the point you are trying to make.

I understand that Premium Planner's data is stored in one place (web/Dataverse) and non-Premium Planner's data is stored in another (Azure) - this immediately seems silly and may cause problems if people, who may not all have the premium version, are interacting with each other. Anyway, this is besides the point...

If I click on 'go to premium plan' it takes me to the plan itself, correct. This is fine for me as the Plan owner and manager, but this is NOT fine for the 20+ people who are responsible for closing off the 180+ actions within the project I am managing. I don't want to give them access to the plan directly, where they can make changes and delete things etc, this is unadvisable.

I want these 20+ people to be able to go into My Tasks, filter by the date to look at any overdue or due today tasks, click the i icon to see the details (checklists included) and be able to tick off all the actions in one place once they're complete. This should be very straightforward but is clearly not the case for some reason?

    It needs resolved quickly.

    Thanks,

    Locke.

    Hi there,

I've quite frankly given up trying on this issue (which was raised in November of last year) and have moved on to other things, as I got the feeling this wouldn't be something you as a team would try to solve. Clearly from your reply it isn't.

Either way, telling someone giving feedback to a support team who are supposed to act upon feedback to help users have a better experience, that they should not mention their issues again on a support forum, is laughable and a terrible way to do business as a team.

Best of luck with your AI features.

    Hi Tin,

I have submitted a feedback request, but what do I do in the meantime? I am using Planner to manage a complex problem with ~180 tasks within it and managing a project team with 20+ responsible people for closing off tasks within the process.

My plan was to get them to manage their daily tasks through 'My Tasks', but, due to most of the key information (checklists, etc) missing from the My Tasks section, this will now not be possible.

What's a suitable solution to this? I don't want 20+ responsible people having access to the Plan, as they may edit or change timelines or delete things by accident.

    Thanks,

    Locke.

    Dear Locke G,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. I am happy to help you.

I want to be able to click the "i" icon when hovering over a task, open the task window up and review the checklist items I have previously added within the Task, via My Plans.

I did a test here with Planner/Planner in Teams and I don't seem to have encountered the same situation:

So, since you don't see an icon for this feature, i would ask you to try using the shortcut keys to see if you can open the details of the exposure: Select the task and press Alt+i:

I look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
