Not sure why my post was split from this thread when it has direct information about the topic overall.

I spent 3.5 hours with MS technical support on this topic, that too is directly related. Please don't split my information for the user community when it accurate.

To update everyone, the quotes are direct from MS technical support:

"After working with the Higher level Engineers, I have being informed that an Update would be send to automatically disable the Copilot in your Office 365 apps."

With the Mac MS Office, you can not remove Co-pilot yet. You can not downgrade or install old images of MS Office without Co-pilot. It has been deployed across the entire suite. Changing subscription plans does not resolve the issue. You must wait for the update and no time frame was provided.

There is a large Reddit group discussing the nature of Co-pilot. Some concerning questions are being raised such as: Did you give permission to Micro Soft (MS) to be used by AI? Is what you write in MS Word your intellectual property? Where does your intellectual property go with Co-pilot?

My thoughts exactly. I did not spend the time to downgrade my subscription thinking it was likely safer to not and a waste of time trying to figure out what would change. Thanks for confirming.

MS made assumptions that people can't read and write, but I went to school, I can read, skim, and write myself. To add the CoPilot function without a way to turn it on and off n ALL platforms, particularly the web interface, is TOTALLY irresponsible design. I expect better from Microsoft.

Same problem. I managed to use the Cancel Subscription option to downgrade my subscription to Personal Classic, but that means I still have to put up with this idiotic bug for another month.

This has been a total waste of my time. I never wanted Copilot, and it got shoved into my face without any request or approval from me, and worst of all, there's no way to turn it off.

MS support and MS engineers stating they can't remove/turn off Copilot is frankly ridiculous. MS wrote the code. Of course they can change it.

Whether they want to is another matter. MS needs to listen to it's customers. Some may want Copilot - that's fine, but make it an easy option to turn off if you don't want it. They CAN do this is they so wish.
