    As Dave already stated...

    You must take an exam and finish it successfully to earn a certification.

    On some certifications, it is enough to run one exam (like AZ-104 - Azure Admin) or two exams to receive your certification (like AZ-304 - Azure Solution Arch.)

    An exam is the testing required to enable a certification to be rendered.
