This is nothing more than a sales pitch for a more expensive product. Those of us on a PERSONAL Microsoft 356 product do not need a family product and so we are clearly being charged 50% MORE to service them. This is blatantly unfair and appalling from Microsoft. It is a disgrace. We used to buy the software and load it to our devices. That's it. One charge. Now we are forced into annual subscription charging with increases of 50% this year alone. Why the increase? It;s not as if there are wages to pay given it is impossible to ever actually talk to a real person about anything!

Same here - no option to resubscribe without Copilot. I don't need it for what I do with Office and I don't want to contribute to the enormous carbon footprint that AI creates. It stinks, MS.

I followed instructions and reverted to "classic", not that I should have had too!! Microsoft should have given the option to change to the AI more expensive version not just assume people would want it!! Paying same price as last year again of $109

    Hello, Nikki DLG

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I realize that you have encountered a problem that the fee of your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription has increased. I understand the inconvenience this may have caused.

Before anything, I would like to know where you purchased your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription?

From Microsoft's official website?  Or another third-party retailer (like Amazon)?

1 -> If you purchased from a third-party retailer, you need to contact them directly for further assistance.

For more information, see Manage your Microsoft 365 subscription purchased through a third party - Microsoft Support

2 -> If you purchased from Microsoft officially:

I would like to explain that:

Recently, we are adjusting our Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscription prices to continue to evolve benefits and ensure Microsoft customers are among the first to access powerful AI features in our apps.

We are making Copilot part of our Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions in selected marketsAustralia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Here are some Copilot experiences for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers:

    • Copilot in Word transforms your writing and reading experience by generating an outline or full draft, suggesting rewrites to better capture your ideas, summarizing long texts into easy-to-understand segments, and even creating unique images to complement your documents.
    • Copilot in Excel helps you analyze your data to provide actionable insights and charts, and generate formulas based on your requirements.
    • Copilot in PowerPoint enhances your storytelling by generating a complete outline with visuals, text, and speaker notes, and allows you to create custom images to make your presentation more engaging.
    • Copilot in Outlook makes managing emails a breeze by drafting emails based on your intent, providing tips to improve tone and clarity, and summarizing email threads to help you catch up quickly.
    • Copilot in OneNote takes your note-taking to the next level by helping you organize information, create lists, draft plans, generate ideas, and provide insights into past notes.

For more information, see Unlock your potential with Copilot and Designer in Microsoft 365 Personal and Family - Microsoft Stories Asia.

If you don't want the price increase or don't need the new AI features, I sincerely suggest you considering switching to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family Classic (a subscription without AI).

Here are the steps to switch:

    1. Sign in to this website with the account associated with your subscription: Microsoft Account | Services & Subscriptions
    2. Find your Microsoft 365 personal/family subscription and select Manage.
    3. Select Cancel subscription.
    4. Look under Switch to a subscription that's better for you, and then select Microsoft 365 Family/Personal Classic, whichever applies.
    5. Follow the instructions to complete the order. When your existing subscription expires, your subscription will automatically renew to Classic.

If you encounter any problems in the above steps or have more questions about your subscription, I sincerely recommend that you contact Microsoft Live Chat support to deal with your problem and avoid your personal information being leaked in this public forum.

I will guide you to the right place.

    1. Visit this website: Contact Us - Microsoft Support.
    2. Sign in with your personal Microsoft account.
    3. Enter your issue in the search box. For example, subscriptions/invoices/refunds.
    4. Click Get Help, then click Contact Supp ort at the bottom of the page. Image
    5. Under Products and services, select Microsoft 365 and Office.
    6. Under Category, select Manage my subscription.
    7. Click Confirm. Image
    8. Select Chat with a support agent in a web browser. Image

Please note: The Chat support team only works at certain times, so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I hope your problem will be resolved successfully.

    Best wishes,

Lucia Wu - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
