A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Hi Morgan PROFT
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I realize that you've encountered a problem with " OneDrive ", and I understand how you feel.
I understand how you feel, just take it easy for a moment. You described the working method of OneDrive very accurately, and it is basically as you said, but OneDrive backup uploads the files in the checked folder to the cloud by default, and also keeps them locally. Only when the blue cloud appears can it prove that the file is only saved in the cloud. And after you cancel the backup, the OneDrive folder will not be deleted, but they will no longer be synchronized. You can move the files to other local locations and then delete the OneDrive folder. This will not lose your files. The original intention of OneDrive is just to allow users to seamlessly access files and work on multiple platforms and devices. As for storage subscriptions, OneDrive is like other cloud storage applications. If you want to use more cloud storage space, you need to pay a certain fee. This is understandable. For information about the synchronization status of OneDrive, please refer to the following support article, which can better help you understand what I mean:

I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you, and I hope this reply can help you better understand OneDrive.
Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or need any further help.
