When trying to Sync multiple videos taken at the same presentation, I often need to sync mov and mp4 files. What is the best way in Clipchamp?

Is it to zoom in as far as possible and moving one clip by select and hold or is there a keyboard shortcut for frame to frame movement?

Dear Mike Roughan,

Thank you for sharing the results of your attempts with us. We see that you use X+← and X+→ to help you gradually move and edit the different video information you need.

Because the shortcut keys may be different in different language versions and systems, we mainly want to suggest that you refer to the detailed description in the link and use specific shortcut keys to help you move the video for editing.

We are very happy that you can help you achieve your needs through Ian.L - MSFT's suggestions again.

In order to let as many users as possible know the latest information about this issue and keep the Microsoft forum clean and orderly, you can click "Yes" to know our answer, which can also let more users know about the function usage information of Clipchamp.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards

    Hi Mike Roughan.

Thank you for your prompt reply!

I have reviewed your conversation with Zenobia.Z and understand your requirements. You hope that when synchronizing or aligning two video tracks, you can use a certain frame-by-frame movement shortcut to make fine adjustments to the project, correct?

In fact, the article link provided by Zenobia.Z includes the corresponding shortcuts, as shown in the image:

Keyboard shortcuts for Clipchamp - Microsoft Support

You can use X+← and X+→ to slowly move the entire video track. Of course, after repeated verification, this does not seem to be frame-by-frame movement, but the movement is small, and it will adapt based on how you zoom in or out of the video track (in Clipchamp, it is called the timeline), achieving a frame-by-frame effect when the timeline is more detailed.

As Zenobia.Z introduced, ClipChamp is mainly based on web technology, and online applications usually need to be lightweight. Compared to other professional editing software, ClipChamp is more user-friendly and easy to get started with, meeting most daily editing needs. However, relatively speaking, its functionality may be somewhat lacking, and some features found in other editing software may not be provided in ClipChamp. I understand that this may cause some inconvenience to your work. But I believe the developers will continue to optimize ClipChamp to enrich its features and meet the advanced needs of more users.

Just as support staff may sometimes misunderstand your needs, the solutions provided may not have helped you resolve your doubts in a timely manner. However, we will do our utmost to test the issues you raise and hope to find a suitable solution.

Thank you again for your support of Microsoft products and the Microsoft community! You can tell us if this is helpful by clicking "Yes" or "No" for the reply. If you still have questions, please continue to explain in the reply, and we will be here to serve you as always!

    Best regards,

    Dear Mike Roughan,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you want to synchronize and move files in Clipchamp.

According to your description, you mainly need to add files and information of different formats in the same video and ensure the synchronization and detection of files. We have inquired and confirmed, and need to explain to you:

Clipchamp is mainly based on web technology to help you load media files into the program and edit or change the export according to your needs. This is mainly a video editor that can be used in different devices.

It does support editing of media files in multiple formats, but during the editing process, file synchronization and editing need to be manually confirmed according to your needs. If you need to synchronize videos, we recommend that you try:

Look at the videos on the timeline and find their start points or key events, which are the points you want to synchronize.

You can help align the time and display information by zooming in as much as possible on the timeline, then scrolling the mouse or directly zooming in and out and dragging the video clips frame by frame.

If the videos are different lengths, you can use the trimming tool to adjust the start and end points of the videos so that the keyframes are aligned.

At the same time, setting markers for each video on the timeline and marking the frames that need to be synchronized can also help you synchronize and move the files to display correctly to the greatest extent.

Of course, this operation may still cause inconsistencies in some files or the connection process. You can use Clipchamp's shortcuts to make subtle adjustments, which can help to more accurately synchronize your file information:

For example, using Sift+left\right arrows can help further adjust the position and display. You can operate and confirm frame by frame:

Thank you very much for your support and use of Clipchamp. You can move and synchronize files in the same video according to your needs.

If there are any updates or other displays, you can reply to us and we will help you further confirm.

    Best regards

    Ian,

    Brilliant!

Using X+← and X+→ does exactly what I was looking for in terms of shifting clips incrementally to synch up different videos of the same event. Thank you for the clarification.

    Zenobia,

Thank you for responding to my query. As I understand your explanation, you are suggesting that holding the shift key down while pushing the left or right arrow affects the selected clip. However, whether I use the shift key w/ arrow keys or just the arrow key, the only impact is moving the seeker, not the clip.

My question was whether there was any action other than hold and drag to move a clip (not the seeker)?
