Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
I sympathize with Carmel and Phil - and many other vexed users out there.
Thank you Lucia.Wu for that detailed information. Unfortunately, when I tried there was no Classic option at all. In the end I had to start a chat with Support, who then redirected me to start a chat with Sales - and after much time was told that the best option was to cancel my subscription renewal and then wait for the email prior to expiry (Feb 2025) to then be able to choose a Classic option, which hopefully by then will be available.
Will MS listen to venting of annoyance? It took several days of annoyance to get to the bottom of what was happening in Word and the annoying distraction of Copilot's constant intrusive appearances. Then it took days to find instructions on how to roll Office 365 back to the pre-Copilot version of Feb 2024, and disabling updates to prevent its return. Then came the dawning realisation of the price hike that would come with my subscription renewal that would include the idiot Copilot I had just eliminated!
Adding Copilot to my Office without my knowledge or active consent, where it was unwanted, distracting and intrusive, and time-wasting to fix, is just plain stupid! And increasing the cost of subscriptions for what ultimately proves to be an optional extra is unethical! It is in effect forcing a price hike on clients for a service they do not want, then leaving them to search for the hidden remedy. It is a highly deceptive practice. It could have been avoided by simply giving clients an option to upgrade their service and cost. Due to this, I have submitted a complaint to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission).
