I'd like to have only Word and maybe Excel, but not to have them updated. I don't care at all if I have the latest bells and whistles. I'm just looking for a one-time download that never has to be renewed and has perpetual rights.

It would save quite a bit of money over the $129 every single year for all that stuff I don't use. How do I do this? Note: a search of the microsoft store does not yield a compatible result.

    Hi Kathryn Paschal,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It is possible to buy Word only, you can refer to the following link:

However, it is not cost-effective and it is even cheaper to buy Office suites such as Office 2024 Home directly instead.

I hope this is useful and please feel free to ask any questions.

    Best regards,

Buy Office 2024 Home rather than any individual program.

Last time I checked, Word 2024 cost $30 more than Office 2024 Home (which includes Word and Excel and PowerPoint).

I think Office Home is what you need. Use the link posted by Ian:
