Replace text while typing in MS Word, like on a mobile phone (i.e. without having to make a list of words).

I want the facility to replace text while typing in MS Word, like on a mobile phone (i.e. without having to make a list of words). I have just purchased a laptop and was told by the store that this facility is now in the software. The laptop already has Office 2016 installed on it. - it doesnt do it. Will Office 2021 do this? Or do I need 365? Thanks.

Text Predictions are available in Word for Windows with a Microsoft 365 subscription and in Word for the web. None of the non-subscription editions (2016, 2019, 2021 or 2024) have the feature.

There is a separate text prediction feature in Windows (both Windows 10 and Windows 11), independent of whether you have Microsoft 365. For instructions, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enable-text-suggestions-in-windows-0bf313ca-c992-4173-aa5f-8341d3953498

The perpetual license version being sold by Microsoft these days is 2024. I do not believe it has predictive text either.

Many people turn this off, finding it annoying.

I'm glad at least one person wants it.

In my opinion, AutoCorrect is far superior.

You already have this in 2016.
