I understand that you are getting Copilot when editing with the text box feature in PowerPoint, I understand your frustration and will do my best to help you troubleshoot.
Usually, before Microsoft releases a feature, it will be improved many times based on user feedback before releasing the feature publicly. I checked the linked image you shared (usually when you share an image in the community, it may not load, you can try it several times, I had the same problem as you), and then tried to insert a text box in PowerPoint and edit it according to what you described, but unfortunately it didn't reproduce your problem, and the Copilot icon will be displayed in the upper left corner of the slide:
I would like to confirm some information with you in order to get a better idea of the status of the problem:
- May I ask if you are selecting Insert -> Text Box for your text box and then editing it?
- Do you have the Copilot icon displayed in the upper left corner, or does it appear directly on the slide?
- What version of PowerPoint are you currently using? You can click File->Account->Share with us a screenshot of the information on the right to determine if this happens with a specific version.
You can also try disabling Copilot by turning off Connected Experiences, to troubleshoot if you can edit properly:
It's important to explain that if you disable this feature, you won't have access to experiences that evaluate their content to provide design recommendations, editing suggestions, data insights, and similar features such as PowerPoint Designer or Translator. - Open PowerPoint.
- Select File > Account.
- Under Account Privacy, select Manage Settings.
- deselect ‘Enable optional connectivity experience’.
- Restart the Microsoft 365 application
