I have a student account on Microsoft 365, I would like to know how to download applications such as WORD or EXCEL to my computer. I know it's possible, I just don't know how.

Many educational licenses provide only for the online applications.

Check with your school's IT department to see whether the school's license provides for desktop applications.

As far as I know, generally, to properly download and install the Office desktop app, first you’ll need the corresponding license called “The latest desktop version of Office” in your school account. You can sign into the Office portal: My account with your school account and check your Microsoft 365 licenses:
