How to change the default Font in a signature block added to a Word document.

Can I change the default Font that is used when someone types their signature next to the X in a Word document signature block that I added to a Word document using Insert - Signature Line -Signature Setup. For example, in the image below, how do I change the Font of the text that "John Doe" is written using? I don't want to insert an image here, just want the typed text to be displayed using a different Font.

What version of Word do you have? In Word in Microsoft 365 (desktop app), I don't get anything like the dialog you are showing. If I use Insert | Text | Signature Line, I get a dialog like this:

And when I insert the signature line (no matter what I type into the dialog or what options I select), this is what I get:

Clicking on it does nothing, and double-clicking gives an error message, there seems to be no option to type or insert an image. What am I doing wrong?

I wondered if the digital signature certificate was a factor (I don't have such a certificate, either), but digital signatures are completely outside my experience. Sorry! It may be that someone else may be more knowledgeable about some way to change the font.

thank you for looking into this. I'm trying to use this signature block feature on an enterprise version of Word that I'm using at work (Microsoft 365 App for Enterprise, latest version is 2412). I have a certificate installed on my laptop. Double-clicking the signature box to open up the Sign window, and then typing in my name next to the X in the sign field, then being prompted to enter my security PIN for my certificate and entering it, signs the document. The document then can't be further edited.

I tried the feature on my personal version of Word (Microsoft 365 Apps for Windows, latest version is 2412) and when I double-click on the box and try to sign at the X in the Sign Window by typing in my name, I don't get an error, what I get is "the certificate you selected cannot be verified". So the feature doesn't work unless one has a valid certificate on their computer.

I may just stick with the default Font. I was hoping to change it to a more cursive type font so a digital signature in the box looks like a true signature.
