Connecting an existing email with a Microsoft 365 Business account

Good morning,

I have a small company. Up until now I didn't have any particular needs in terms of digital tools, so I have just been using a standarda outlook.com email. Now I would like to scale up a bit and buy a 365 for business subscription and use a personalised email domain.

I already have a webdomain registered, which includes personalised email. If I decide to buy a 365 for business account, will I be able to use the already existing email and have a full 365 experience? If that is so, how? Is there any guide I can follow?

I have not bought any subscription yet, as the feasibility and complexity of this process will directly inform my final decision on the matter.

Thanks for the help.

Kind regards

    Dear Alesorta,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist!

Based on your description regarding "Connecting an existing email with a Microsoft 365 Business account" you can definitely connect your existing email with a Microsoft 365 Business account. To do this, you will need to follow these steps:

    • Sign up for a Microsoft 365 Business subscription. Choose a plan that fits your needs from the Compare All Microsoft 365 Plans | Microsoft
    • Add your existing email accounts to Microsoft 365. (During the setup, you’ll be prompted to add your custom domain. This is where you’ll enter the domain you already own.)
    • Follow the instructions to verify that you own the domain. This usually involves adding a TXT record to your domain’s DNS settings.
    • Once your domain is verified, you can set up email addresses using your custom domain. You can either create new email addresses or connect existing ones. After you finish setup, the MX record for your domain is updated to point to Microsoft 365 and all email for your domain will start coming to Microsoft 365. Make sure you add users and set up mailboxes in Microsoft 365 for everyone who gets email on your domain! Thanks for your precious time and your understanding would be highly appreciated. Have a nice day!
