I save many powerpoint presentations to pdf, however, recently after updating the app to the latest update, I am receiving this error when I try to save as a pdf or export to a pdf:

Error exporting file as PDF: The online service is not available in your region. Please contact your administrator

This is 80% of my work and I cannot proceed without figuring this out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app....nothing works.

Try checking for updates again. I believe that this issue is with version 16.90 and seems to be corrected with 16.91.

I found a fix!! Did this for two users and it worked for both.

When they do the export > pdf

have them check the box "best for printing"

That fixed the export issue and had both users confirm that the exported PDF looked ok.

Please come to "Save as" and click on " Online Locations" , add your online Microsoft account and the problem will be solved. ( It can be a free live account, not necessary the paid office account)

Where are you located? (The error message refers to your region, so let's assume for a moment that there's a connection). And are you temporarily in a different location from your usual?

    Dear Josh Adams3,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. I am happy to help you

To further narrow down this phenomenon, I would like to confirm the following information:

    • Does this happen in a particular presentation?
    • Could I confirm that if you access the PowerPoint web side through a browser, could you save the file as a PDF file? You can visit the Office portal, log in to your account and click PowerPoint.

I look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
