Hi,
This isn't a total fix but try switching back to the classic sharepoint experience.
Thanks

Hi,
I have a Microsoft Lists document on Sharepoint, being used to track important projects in my workplace for which I have no recent downloads/backups.
I was adding a column today and then received the error code below. When I try to access the setting using the cog in the top right of the screen it's constantly stuck on "Loading...". If I click on any of the options in the top bar e.g. "Export" or "Edit in grid view" nothing happens
Is there any way to retrieve this important project tracker and the data that it contains?
Kind Regards
Tom

Hi Andre,
Thank you so much for sharing this detailed workaround! I followed your guidance, and it worked seamlessly. Using Power BI to archive the data was incredibly helpful, and having everything readily accessible in Excel has given me much-needed flexibility while dealing with the 5000-item list limit.
Setting up the Power Automate flow to delete older items also worked perfectly. Your step-by-step instructions made it straightforward, and I was able to filter my list view for recent data without any issues.
That said, I feel Microsoft should investigate this issue further. While your workaround is effective, it’s clear that such a complex approach should not be necessary to prevent these errors. This limitation creates an unnecessary barrier for users managing large lists, and addressing it directly would provide a more seamless experience for everyone.
I truly appreciate the time and effort you took to share this solution; it made all the difference. Thanks again for your help!
Very Respectfully,
Damon
I've been experiencing the same issue and I've been able to find a workaround that's annoying but does work.
Once you run this Power Automate Flow, you'll delete some items so that your MS list will again be under 5000. You should now be able to load the list, then go to Settings to address the issue. In my case, I just added a filter to the "All Items" view so that it only displayed items from the last 30 days. Once you've set this filter, you can then re-add the data you archived & deleted previously and your list should continue to load.
It's not an ideal workaround but it does work if you need a quick solution!
Hi I have almost the same issue
Unknown render failure. The number of items in the list exceeds the list view threshold, which is 5000 items. You can return to the list to select a different view or visit the following article for guidance on how to work around the issue: manage list and libraries with many items.

i was forced to create a new copied list.
