How to add Exchange Online Plan 2 to existing Microsoft 365 business standard

The organization has Microsoft 365 business standard subscription with Exchange Online Plan 1. One of the users is running out of mailbox storage (50GB). Can we increase this mailbox storage to 100 GB by adding/purchasing Exchange Online Plan 2?

Noting, that we do not want to change/lose any other features of the subscription, only the mailbox size.

I am an administrator on the account but could not find the Exchange Online Plan 2 under the user's Licenses and Apps section. Thus information on how to activate Exchange Online Plan 2 would be appreciated.

    Hello AniaOsbX

Good day and thanks for posting in Microsoft community.

Based on the information provided, it appears you want to add Exchange Online Plan 2 to your existing Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription and increase the mailbox storage from 50GB to 100GB. Can you please confirm if you have checked and implemented these initial steps?

    1. Remove Exchange Online Plan 1: Since your organization is currently using Microsoft 365 Business Standard along with Exchange Online Plan 1, you will need to remove Exchange Online Plan 1 before adding Exchange Online Plan 2. Navigate to the user's Licenses and Apps section in the Microsoft 365 admin center, expand the Apps section, and uncheck Exchange Online (Plan 1).
    2. Add Exchange Online Plan 2: After removing Plan 1, you will be able to add Exchange Online Plan 2. If you cannot find it directly in the user’s Licenses and Apps section, it may be necessary to purchase the Plan through the Microsoft 365 admin center or the Microsoft portal. Look for the Billing section and then select Purchase services. You can find Exchange Online Plan 2 there and proceed to add it.

Note: You need to have global admin permission.M365 Business Standard and Exchange Online Plan 2 -

    • Access Admin Center: Log in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Go to Users: Navigate to Users >> Active Users.
    • Select User: Click on the specific user who needs the additional storage.
    • Licenses and Apps: In the user details panel, find the Licenses and Apps.
    • Modify Licenses: Uncheck Exchange Online Plan 1 and then check Exchange Online Plan 2 if it is visible, or ensure it was added through purchases.
    • Final Check: Confirm that the changes have taken effect, and that the mailbox is now set to 100GB.

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can find a solution together.

Thanks for your valuable time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,
