PERSONAL Onedrive - Sharing folder sync button missing from web browser. Can only add shortcut link. (THIS IS NOT A SHAREPOINT ISSUE.)

Hey 365,

We have been using one drive personal for years now and I have never had this issue. Today, my one drive had a sync issue in which I had to unlink the account and re link it again. By doing this, all my shared folders had to be re-synced via the web browser as they are shared folders from others. Opening up the shared OneDrive link you get by sharing those folders, I now only get the option to link a **add shortcut to my files** - for years we got the option to sync the shared folder.

I need to open files.... not download the folder or files from the web browser link.

Has this option been turned off? been removed? how do I get the sync option back with personal one drive (note: this is not SharePoint or business related).

Thank you,

(Tired uploading a screen shot or pasting it and even that would work.....)

    Hi CraigLong,

You state, correctly, that "Personal OneDrive does not have a Sync button" - but what you fail to address is the actual issue we are all experiencing - Personal OneDrive DID have a Sync button until it was removed by Microsoft with no warning or explanation and creating massive problems for users who have been using this feature for years.

This functionality needs to be restored. Paying for a 365 subscription only to have functionality removed is unacceptable.

I think we need to know quickly if this very very basic function is going to come back somehow or not, because many people are heavily relying on that. Otherwise we really need to go back to other solutions. Please Microsoft, let us know what are the plans.

This is a huge problem. Scrolling through a long list of sub-folders in a browser is in no way acceptable relative to typing the first few characters of a folder name in Windows File Explorer to find it. Why on Earth would Microsoft remove the ability to sync shared, editable folders to the Desktop of the person with whom I have shared a folder?
