Layout options aren't highlighted and can't use

I have been having problems under layouts with the preview showing what actually comes out being printed.

I noticed that the wrap around has stopped working, and then when I look at under Layout options, the following icons aren't highlighted: Position, wrap around, bring forward, send backwards, group or rotate.

What can be done so that they become highlighted so that I can use them, especially the wrap around function for wor?

Thanks,

Steve Wexler

The Layout features pertain to objects [pictures, Shapes, Icons, etc.] inserted into a document. They are not active unless one or more objects are selected.

I'm afraid the screen shot does not show what Stefan specified but the small amount of the document window suggest that the document has no content. Accordingly there are no objects selected so the tools in the Arrange group are not of any use.

No disrespect but it may be that you aren't familiar with the purpose of those tools. Use Help> Word Help & enter the term text wrap in the Search field to explore related topics.

If my interpretation is incorrect please include the present Version Numbers of both Office & macOS in your reply. A more detailed description explaining the difference between what is displayed in the document window as opposed to what prints along with a screen shot of the entire document window would be helpful.

    Stefan,

Thanks for your response. I have a 2021 Microsoft office suite for a Mac. I have attached a picture of the layout icons that are not highlighted for me to use.. since they aren’t highlighting, when I try to activate them they don’t do anything. I didn’t realize that they weren’t working until I went to print off a letter, and the wraparound wasn’t working. I also noticed that when I did a print preview, and then tried to printing the document, it didn’t look Anything like the print preview with missing sections and words. Regards, Steve

You will have to select the object first. If you can't select it, the reason might be that it is in the header or footer. Could you show a screen shot of what you see in the document?

    Thank you for replying.

The text wrapping isn’t highlighted so I don’t have access to be able use it. Under layout, the following icons aren’t highlighted, so I can’t use them: position, wraparound , bring forward, send backwards , group, or rotate.

I’ve written a letter, and there’s nothing I can do to make those changes especially the wraparound.

Is the Text Wrapping for the object set to "In line with text"? In that case, choose another option such as "Square." That should activate the options you mention.
