Has Restrict Editing been applied to portions of the document? If so, the portions of the document that can be edited will be indicated by a faint yellowish\orange highlight. That highlight will not print, but, the only way to prevent it from appearing is the remove the editing restriction from the document.

The option "Show highlighter marks" at File > Options > Display is only temporary, and it only applies to Text Color Highlight which can be applied via the Font group on the Home tab (see the screen shot below).

To remove highlighting permanently, select the text and use the "No Color" option.

As Charles says, an alternative is that you are dealing with shading. You can select the affected text and click the arrow on the border button in the Paragraph group. See the screen shot.

Select the text and apply no color using the highlighting tool on the Home tab.

Note that the yellow color could be shading rather than highlighting, in which case it would be handled using the Borders and Shading found in the paragraph group of the Home tab.
