I surely remember i used to press tab and the suggestion used to get applied. Now there's this lock icon that appears after the suggested text. I tried gpt and checked options -> advanced, there options like show autocomplete suggestions and show text predictions were already enabled, please help.
A screenshot is attached showing the lock icon appearing.

    Hi all,

The Word Team just got the feature re-enabled for Current Channel.

To check the feature is enabled click File, Options, Advanced, Show text predictions while typing.

This is a Word bug in Office Current Channel. It also repros in Outlook and I just posted a Known Issue about it, Text predictions unexpectedly become unavailable and are missing in Outlook options - Microsoft Support. The best workaround until we get a fix is to switch to another channel such as Monthly Enterprise or Current Channel Preview.

I just wrote out some steps to change channel here, Turn on Predictive Text - Microsoft Community. Here are the simplest steps:

    AUTOMATED STEPS:

    1. Close classic Outlook
    2. Go to this MVP article, Let users decide their Microsoft 365 Apps (Office 365) Release Channel - Robert 365
    3. In that article under Method 2 download the registry key officechannelexposure.zip, then right click the zip file and extract it.
    4. Double click on the exported registry file officechannelexposure.reg to install it.
    5. Start Outlook
    6. Click File, Office Account, click Update Channel and pick Monthly Enterprise Channel (MEC). Office will start updating to MEC channel.

Registry Key download reference in the article linked above:

Could these suggestions / predictions be made by a third-party app? Or maybe it is the Text Suggestions feature of Windows? I am not sure. Like Suzanne, I haven't seen anything quite like what is shown in your screen shot.

I have never seen anything like this. If you recreate the AutoText entry, does it then behave correctly? Is this happening with all AutoText entries?

There is no screen shot in your post. Sometimes an image that won't upload to an initial post will work in a reply, so try again.
