Index entries in bold

I'm in the editing process of a book I've written. Most of the subtitles in each chapter are in bold print and they are in the Index. Is there a way to have them in the Index without being bold?

Your description suggests that the XE (index entry) fields have Bold formatting applied to them. Remove that formatting and update the index.

If you inserted the XE fields via the Index Entry dialog box (Alt+Shift+X), note that any direct formatting in the selection will be added to the field code and then reflected in the index itself.

As a precaution, remove direct formatting from your heading paragraphs. Incorporate any font properties that you want to add into the styles instead.

By Index, do you mean Table of Contents, which is the normal place for headings and sub-headings to appear. If that is the case, each level of the Table of Contents is formatted with a Style and you can modify to attribute of the font in the relevant TOC# style.

No, I mean Index in the back of the book.
